Hello Saints,
Tracey and I are back from our vacation. We had a wonderful time camping at Rocky Gap State Park in Maryland. It was too dry for mushroom hunting, but we spent a lot of time hiking, reading, swimming, and playing games.
I'd like to let everyone know there is a new opportunity to volunteer as a church at City Mission. We will be helping them serve dinner one day during the week from 4:30-6:00. Trinity will likely help them once a month, but that depends upon how many people are interested. How often we help them depends upon how many people volunteer and how often they are available.
The details are as follows. It will be on Tuesday evenings. Because of restricted parking - there's construction for their new women's shelter - anyone wanting to carpool will meet at the church at 4:15. We will leave at 4:20 to arrive at City Mission by 4:30. The tasks will include setting and clearing tables, serving food, washing dishes, prepping food, and serving tables. Anyone of capable age is welcome to help. The only restriction is that children under 13 are not allowed to help in the kitchen for safety reasons. The dress code is simply no open-toed shoes and modest clothing you don't mind getting a little dirty.
There is one more thing we will have an opportunity to do while we are there. There are enough people working there that there will be time to sit down with the residents and talk with them. This may not sound important, but many of them have the need to know there are people in "the real world" who will accept them. By just asking questions and listening you may give them a sense of dignity and self-worth.
The first opportunity will be this Tuesday July 23rd. Please email me at jamey@trinitywashpa.org or give the church a call to let us know if you want to come this week or if you'd like to be notified of future opportunities.
Yours in Christ,
Jamey
Much of popular music centers around love songs: love sought after, love won, love lost. Much of Christian music centers around songs about God, his nature, and our relationship with Him. What would a Christian love song possibly sound like? I know, I've referred to the artist Anna Palfreeman two times already, but the more I listen to her album the more I like it. The following is a song about marriage that Tracey and I really like.

Prayer:
O blessed Lord, you ministered to all who came to you: Look with compassion upon those who through addiction have lost their health and freedom. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy; remove from them the fears that beset them; strengthen them in the work of their recovery; and to those who minister to them, give patient understanding and persevering love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
